Jack White

Famous for being the front man of The White Stripes, the band he formed with his ex-wife and drummer Meg, John Gillis (aka Jack White as he became after taking his wife's name) has continued to work on a range of projects and collaborations. A fan of classical and blues music as a child, White started playing instruments and eventually wound up as a drummer for Detroit band Goober & The Peas. He formed The White Stripes with Meg White in 1997 and together they have recorded seven albums. During this time however, White worked on numerous other projects including, allegedly, Electric Six's songs 'Danger! High Voltage' and 'Gay Bar' as well as forming The Raconteurs in 2005 with Brendan Benson, Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler, releasing two albums. White put together a new ensemble in 2009 called The Dead Weather, teaming up with Alison Mosshart of The Kills, The Raconteurs' Jack Lawrence and Dean Fertita of Queens of the Stone Age and released debut album 'Horehound' the same year. He has also developed a solo career which includes writing the soundtrack to 2003 movie 'Cold Mountain' and partnering with Alicia Keys on the 'James Bond' theme 'Another Way to Die' for 'Quantum of Solace' in 2008. In 2009 film-maker Emmett Malloy directed 'Under Great White Northern Lights', a documentary about The White Stripes' 2007 tour across Canada with off- and on-stage footage of the band. The same year they gave their final performance as a band on 'Late Night With Conan O'Brien' before deciding to go their separate ways. In 2012 Jack White released 'Love Interruption' as a single from his debut solo album 'Blunderbuss' which received Grammy nominations for Album of the Year and Best Rock Album. His second solo album 'Lazaretto' achieved number one on the Billboard 200 and received another three Grammy nominations including Best Alternative Music Album. In 2018 he released two brand new songs - 'Connected By Love' and 'Respect Commander' - which were revealed to be from his third solo album 'Boarding House Reach'. The album, released in March of that year, was recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles with 'Connected By Love' being released as its lead single.
